Turn on a boundary layer under 🗂️ Map layers above the map to show official park boundaries. Tap a boundary for its POTA reference and official map.

Turn on a trail layer under 🗂️ Map layers above the map. Sheltowee, Pine Mountain and Dawkins show the full official trail statewide; others load for the area on the map (zoom level 8+) and update as you move.

Map markers show supplied reference coordinates, not official activation boundaries. Always verify eligibility, access, and safety before operating.

Cross-program activation opportunities

Some POTA results show WWFF reference matches from a January 2025 cross-reference. These are historical reference matches only; they do not confirm that you can activate more than one program at the same time. Being near a summit or park does not confirm SOTA/POTA/WWFF eligibility. Before activating, check current official boundaries, access, and each program’s rules.

About this map & offline use

Built for Kentucky. The park boundaries, trails and “Am I inside a park?” check cover Kentucky only for now. Searching and park pins work nationwide, and overlays for other states may be added later.
A planning tool, not the final word. GIS lines can be simplified, out of date or different from what POTA uses, and a boundary on this map doesn’t confirm POTA eligibility, public access or current rules. Before you activate, check the managing agency’s official map, the park’s POTA page, posted rules and closures, and hunting seasons. When in doubt, ask the land manager.
Parks with a KPC-drawn or no boundary

KPC-drawn outlines (yellow dash-dot, no shading, under KPC-drawn boundaries): no official boundary file exists for these, so KPC drew an approximate outline, mostly from OpenStreetMap. Check the park’s own map before you set up.

  • US-3802 Clyde E. Buckley Sanctuary
  • US-10173 Kentucky Horse Park
  • US-1264 Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park
  • US-3787 White Hall State Historic Site
  • US-3789 William Whitley House State Historic Site

Pin only, no outline yet:

Official U.S. Fish & Wildlife land (light blue, under Wildlife refuges & fish hatcheries): Green River NWR, Clarks River NWR, Reelfoot NWR, Ohio River Islands NWR and Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery.

Shown as trail lines, not boundaries: Sheltowee Trace (US-11181), Pine Mountain State Scenic Trail (US-10102), Dawkins Line (US-1253), Trail of Tears (US-3791) and Lewis & Clark (US-4572). For trail parks you must be on the trail itself.

Inside a larger boundary: Clifty Wilderness (US-3801) sits within Daniel Boone National Forest — turn on Wilderness areas to see its own boundary in lime green.

Trails & Nearby Activations

Explore five major Kentucky trails and search for SOTA, POTA and WWFF locations near a trail town or access point. Historic route lines are not necessarily walkable trails or eligible activation areas.

Sheltowee Trace

Kentucky and Tennessee recreation trail. Check current trail conditions and reroutes before hiking.

Trail of Tears

National historic trail: multiple historical routes and visitor sites, not one continuous hiking path.

Town buttons use the regular activation search radius. They do not search along the entire trail route. Official GIS overlays for selected Kentucky routes, park trails, trailheads and campgrounds are available below; nationwide coverage remains incomplete. Official trailhead links are available for selected Kentucky trails.
